Just wondering ... is there a way we can filter and prevent those X-rated sites that often bleed through some the photos that are on display? A lot of them contain viruses.

savethespandex, if you do not already run firefox, then get it and install the AdBlock Plus Add-On with the Filters and the NoScript Add-On. That will prevent unknown pages from running external scripts. It will block prompts to download this virus scanner or prompts to open a harddisk scan, it will block aggressive pop-up windows and it will block those colourful and blinking porn advertisements. You can find the Add-Ons on the Mozilla Firefox Page, they are the most successful Add-Ons of this time.

And by the way, the Download Helper Add-On is really worth it! I also use the Flashgot and the Save Images Add-On for easier downloads.

Unknown Sources with some special Tools make me perplex!

This post is of special interest to those of you who would like an alternative to saving youtube videos

I just found a noble way to save any video from youtube you are watching by following a simple technique: you can use https://www.vidpaw.com/ and add the link there OR you can simply add the letters 'paw' to the address bar as follows:

lets use this video as an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9LULog8WMs&
'SUBC Senior Mens VIII and Novice Womens IV celebrate wins over MUBC (Manchester University Boat Club'

all you need to do is add paw to the end of http://www.youtube so that you get https://www.youtubepaw.com/watch?v=q9LULog8WMs&
That will get you to this page:

you can then choose from the various options to 'save as'

they also have a vidpaw app and an a mac version.

the video i used as an example is a celebration of a win by 'dumping the bitch' into the river' like a sack of potatoes.....(actually)she's the coxswain in the mens crew winning boat and as ive posted a few of these 'dumps' already you all know its a tradition:

anybody here has an idea how to download YT-Videos?
It seems that they have changed some rules and now its impossible to download a video that can be played.
I use several downloader extensions for firefox: video download helper, Savefrom, TeleVZR, Flash and Video Downloader.
Some of them will download a file, but header is missing (only VLC-Player will play that File), some of them crash during download and others can not find a media stream on YT.
Sometimes download works, but only without sound, no audio. And sometimes it works, but only in small resolution 360p or 480p.

I heard that of friends too, they have tried many options and it does not work. Can you tell how you do download if it still works for you?

Thank you Davis. I will try them. But i guess i have found the reason why it does not work anymore. In the File Description of Easy YT Downloader is written:

Youtube-dl is a popular option... though it's a command line utility, it's still fairly simple to use
