I got back a week ago and asap headed downtown to a pretty iconic spot in the city [santiago de chile]- Cerro Santa Lucia or St. Lucia Hill. The hill itself is historic - thats the spot where Pedro de Valdivia started the foundation of Santiago, back in 1541. The rest of the city was built around it. Now its used as a park and events center. And its got the prettiest entrance and fountain, I think these constructions are from the 1800's. This is a very typical sight to see if you are in Santiago, there is always plenty of tourists and couples. Also, on the top there is a cannon which they fire every day at noon!
