From a 1980 Redbook workout article featuring astronaut Dr. Anna Fisher. Leotard by Danskin. Matching tights were designed by Bonnie August and custom made for Dr. Fisher.

It doesn't actually matter because there are types of spandex fabrics that are indeed thin and you can see through. I myself consider as "spandex footed tights" if the tights have seams on either side (or back) and are footed.
