I did two different things to lighten up just the subject of these photos, and I think they turned out OK, for the most part. On both, I used the magnetic lasso tool to surround just the girl, isolating her from the background. Then on the first one, I used the Fill Flash function and made it lighter by +15. On the second one, I adjusted levels, and made the midtones a bit lighter.
