Wonder Woman reboot coming to TV next fall!

According to a number of news outlets, it looks like Wonder Woman is set to replace Smallville next fall! This is quite possibly the best news in TV I've seen in AGES!

I am a little concerned with how they are going to handle this... and hopefully there wont be some sort of goofy avoidance of her signature costumes like Smallville had with Clark's costumes. I mean, honestly, with societies take on costumes when Smallville came out, it made perfect sense. But Wonder Woman's powers sorta come from and are enhanced by her costume, so she can't be without it really.

Anyway, I have high hopes for this one.

I'm pretty sure the new "600" costume will probably be the choice for the show. But I'm sure they will do the classic look at least once. Plus the new look does not replace the wonder wetsuit I think or her other various versions. She will likely get a host of costumes, but the modern one will probably be the most used.

Looks great, but before I know some more I will keep my expectations modest. Any favorites for the main character?

As I mentioned, I hope we get a return of the wonder wetsuit. But in the V3 comics she also gets a SHIELD esq costume, but in white, that would also be great to see live. I've also loved the classic costume, it looks bad ass when she has it all armored up (which is rarely seen).

Let's hope they bring back the wet suit and not make any nauseas changes to it.

oh wow, black spandex leggings :? Cool but not really original/exciting to me. Her wetsuit has to remain the same!

Biggest superhero fail ever: Halle Berry as Catwoman with the most boring costume ever. Since that day, I fear other disasters.

Well, I think we all hope the wonder wetsuit remains true. But more importantly, we hope the series goes through. Right now there is all sorts of talk about Smallville Season 11 / Metropolis Season 1, either could mean Wonder Woman gets put back on hold.

But for all the hollywood costume disasters, there are a few gems. Black Widow in Iron Man 2 was phenomenal, in some ways it actually exceeds the original design IMO. High praise considering Marvel's complete bastardization of their women's costumes in movies so far. Also, Silk Spectre II in Watchmen was awesome as well.

Speaking of other comic-derived films, I really hope Bat Man 3 brings either Black Cat or Catwoman into the series. And hopefully they don't screw it up. For instance, if they decide to bring Catwoman, it'd be a dream come true if she'll go back to her original design: either a purple or green spandex catsuit with blacks boots and a hood.

i do not think that this will be chosen. Look the recently finished movies. Lara Croft has worn black (or silver) tight clothes (some of them seemed to be something like Latex). Aeon Flux: black Lycra. And the Batman Movies: Some clothes seemed to be Rubber or Plastic.

Tight seems to be getting socially acceptable but i think subdued colours are more accepted then colourful.

Ah well, none of it matters now. Apparently all the networks passed on picking up the project. There is only one reason, not enough interest. Sure, they site things like budget etc, but none of that matters if there is a market.

I just do not understand the flat out biased nature the networks have over a female lead show. Sure, they have some evidence of failure... Birds of Prey, Painkiller Jane, The Bionic Woman, and you could even say Black Scorpion. But those shows failed because they were all unknown or barely known characters. Birds of Prey and Painkiller Jane were decent, the Bionic Woman was tacky. Wonder Woman could sell because she has brand recognition. But just like Smallville, a more relate able approach needs to be made, which I think was the plan. A

It's infuriating that bad superhero dramas like No Ordinary Family, and poser cop shows like The Cape are approved, yet the first lady of comics can't get a shot at modern audiences. The networks suck.

Anyway, a sad day is upon us. The 2011 fall season will be totally devoid of any superheroines, and even superheroes for that matter. At least Wonder Woman isn't being tossed out, just put off another couple years.

Well this sucks. Hollywood keeps going from low to lower.

I was really wanting to see Charisma Carpenter in this role. I think she would be perfect for it, but she isn't getting any younger, so hopefully they get this back going. :)

Apparently all hope is NOT lost! NBC ordered a pilot for the show! Looks like the Comcast NBC takeover is off to an excellent start! I have to give Robert Greenblatt an official salute from TPOWIS for this decision.

NBC Orders Wonder Woman Pilot (IGN)

Now the question is, who to play the first lady of comics?

Looks like this is actually happening!

Here is the first look at Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman in apparently the new standard costume. IMO, it looks good, but would probably be better if it wasn't so PVC and more spandex (probably be easier on her too). Sort of a cross between classic and the new "600" look. Overall, I don't think the boots and the leggings should be the same color.

Read about it here.

Bad News....
...When "Wonder Woman" announced that Adrianne Palicki had been cast in the title role, buzz on the superhero show quickly shot through the roof. But then fans got a look at the ill-advised costume. Outrage quickly ensued. And hell hath no fury like a comic fan outraged.

The anger stemmed from Wonder Woman's shiny, rubber-like pants and high heels. It looked like a cheap version of a "sexy" Halloween costume. Fans cried out -- this is no way for a superhero, especially one of the most beloved of all time, to dress.

The blogosphere immediately went into cynical overdrive. Commenters on EW's article speculated that the show would be canceled in a matter of weeks. SlashFilm wrote that the outfit did little to inspire confidence in the show's prospects.

Apparently the producers of the show were listening. Some photos of the actress on the set have surfaced, and eagle-eyed fans quickly spotted the changes to Wonder Woman's threads. The shiny pants have been replaced by a more natural-looking fabric. Her footwear has gone through a transformation as well. The bright boots, which were once blue, are now red. And, even more important, no more high heels. ...

I think I like the latest version of WW's costume over the pub pic version, with the latex and the blue boots. I'd prefer, though, the second version (the original version had WW in a skirt) with the trunks. Also, I've heard some people think that Kim Kardashian should be WW, but I'd think Olivia Munn (formerly of G4's Attack of the Show) would be a perfect WW.
