These photos are outstanding and to my recolection have never been seen. I remember the controversy about her and the tights she wore. The beach volleyball comission decided to outlaw the tights in favour of the bikini uniform and restricted the design. While some out there thought this was a great idea, Gabrielle was quite outspoken. She wanted to keep wearing her tights and was not happy that the comission was forcing a uniform on her. I may be wrong but I believe one of her main reasons cited for quitting was due to this change.
Good for her! The uniforms they wear now are not nearly as functional or sexy Damn she looks good in these. I originally downloaded these back in the late 90's I believe.
Great pics! What year was this? I'm assuming early-to-mid 90's. I just looked up an old article on Gabrielle Reece, and it said she wore men's running tights, not women's, which is interesting. I don't blame Gabrielle Reece for being outspoken about the rules changing. A bunch of arrogant old guys sitting on a board that aren't in touch with the world, and scared of any form of change. Reminds me of the Wimbledon officials that banned Anne White from wearing her white catsuit. I think they'd be more liberal about it these days since Serena Williams recently wore a catsuit.
I was also upset a few years ago when the NBA commission outlawed players wearing spandex tights underneath their shorts. Yes, I know they're male, and this site is for the appreciation of females in spandex, but I'm all for anyone and everyone wearing spandex. Some of you may remember when a lot of NBA players were wearing spandex tights under their uniforms a couple years ago and it started becoming a trend. The athletes said the compression of the tights helped provided support, kept the knees from swelling, and they could go run for longer periods on the court. Now, they can no longer wear it.
It is only coincidental that the women's beach tour outlawed tights at about the time dike pants started to horn in on womens athletic fashion.
As for the NBA, I refuse to watch as long as its dance teams refuse to wear tights. The same goes for any NFL game that doesn't involve the Steelers.
In fact, I'd like to see one by-product of the economic downturn that has also affected the NFL: Maybe some of them will cut cheerleaders out of their budgets. If they're not going to wear tights, they may as well stay home. They're creating an eyesore when they wear dike pants.
You're damned right I'd rather see women wear tights! Does anyone have a problem with that?
